Malvern Winery Receives ABC Approval
Malvern Winery recently received permission from the Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) to engage in both alcohol sales and manufacturing activities.
Wineries and Bonded Wine Cellars
Malvern Winery can operate as a bonded winery or a bonded wine cellar, both of which are overseen by the Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB). As a bonded winery, they can produce wine on their premises, while a bonded wine cellar is a bonded storage warehouse used for storing, blending, or bottling untaxpaid wine without producing wine.
Malvern Winery, whether operating as a bonded winery or bonded wine cellar, must keep detailed records of their operations, including production activities, and submit reports to the TTB. They are also responsible for obtaining label approval and paying excise tax on their products.)
The winery must direct and be fully responsible for the usual and customary activities related to wine production, bottling, and storage, as well as managing the business.
The winery can also work with Custom Crush Clients who wish to have wine produced but do not want to invest in their own equipment or facilities. In such cases, Malvern Winery can produce the wine for these clients, taking care of all production, labeling, and tax responsibilities. striving the agreed upon arrangements, including renting equipment and space to the clients while ensuring compliance with all regulations.
With their approval in place, Malvern Winery now has the ability to manufacture and sell wine, both within and outside their state, subject to local regulations. They can also participate in wine festivals and events authorized by the commission. They may engage in direct shipment of wine to consumers, including those located in dry areas, as long as delivery is handled by carriers with the necessary permits. Malvern Winery has the flexibility to sell wine to various establishments, such as wine and malt beverage retailers, mixed beverage permit holders, and private clubs, as well as to ultimate consumers.
Interestingly, Malvern Winery may also manufacture and label wine for adults, up to 50 gallons annually, for their personal use. This wine is not subject to additional licenses or permits, and the produced quantity counts towards the annual total sale limit.
