Arkansas State Police Issues Annual Awards

Arkansas State Police celebrated the annual State Police Awards Ceremony. This year, several troopers were recognized for their bravery and dedication to protecting their communities. Notably, Trooper Austin Duncan received the prestigious Arkansas State Trooper of the Year Award for 2023. This award exemplifies Duncan’s exceptional service and the impact he has made in the state.

Trooper Levi Fleming, another outstanding officer, was honored for his heroic actions that saved lives. In a remarkable moment, Trooper Fleming risked his life to stop a driver speeding into oncoming traffic. His selfless act earned him the high distinction at the agency’s annual awards.

Among the recognized officers, one trooper who stood out for his actions in September of the previous year. During a critical moment on Interstate 630, he used his vehicle to block a suspect driving the wrong way, preventing what could have been a devastating collision. The agency recognized his courageous act with a special award, acknowledging the significant role he played in ensuring public safety.

Furthermore, Arkansas State Police collaborated with FEMA to open a Disaster Recovery Center in Madison County. This center aims to assist individuals affected by the severe storm system that struck northern Arkansas between May 24 and 27. The center operates daily from 8 a.m. to support those in need, further highlighting the agency’s commitment to serving the state.
