The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Unveils Its New Home: The Stella Boyle Smith Music Center
The wait is finally over for music enthusiasts in Little Rock as the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra (ASO) prepares to unveil its brand-new, state-of-the-art home, the Stella Boyle Smith Music Center. This magnificent facility marks a significant milestone in the ASO’s 59-year history, offering a radically welcoming hub of musical activity for Arkansans of all ages.
Located on the Heifer International campus in the vibrant East Village neighborhood, mere steps from the Clinton Presidential Center, the Stella Boyle Smith Music Center is a testament to community and music. This 20,000-square-foot marvel boasts cutting-edge features that cater to both young and old, with music classrooms, practice spaces, and a versatile recital space, the Susie and Charles Morgan Hall.
The grand opening celebrations, spanning three days from September 13-15, will kick off with a private donor event on Friday. Saturday will bring a morning parade through downtown Little Rock, culminating at the new music center, followed by a day of public festivities. This comprehensive center promises to be a game-changer for music education and performances in the region.
The ASO acknowledges the rich history of the lands it occupies, acknowledging the ancestral homelands of the Opaxpa (Quapaw) and Osage peoples. This acknowledgment serves as a catalyst to learn, respect, and appreciate the contributions and resilience of these indigenous communities.
