Arkansas Troopers Honored at Ceremony

In a moving ceremony held in Benton, top law enforcement officers from the Arkansas State Police were honored for their bravery and dedication. The event, organized by the Arkansas State Police Foundation, recognized the exceptional work of troopers who have consistently demonstrated the highest standards of public service and law enforcement action.

Northwest and Northeast Region Honorees: Among the distinguished recipients was Austin Duncan, who was named Arkansas State Trooper of the Year for his quick thinking and bravery in preventing a potentially catastrophic head-on collision on Interstate 630 in Little Rock. Duncan’s actions exemplified the mission of the Arkansas State Police, showcasing his commitment to keeping communities safe.

Medal of Valor and Lifesaving Awards: Other notable honorees included Trooper Ron Grace and Trooper Nathan Williams, who received the Medal of Valor for their heroic actions. Additionally, Troopers Marcus Simpson, Kirt Williams, Corporal Kevin Helm, and Corporal James Mitchell were awarded Lifesaving Awards for their roles in saving lives during critical situations.

Distinguished Service Awards: The ceremony also highlighted the outstanding service of various officers. Sergeant Rodney McNeese and Investigator Charles Brown from Pope County Sheriff’s Office, as well as Constable James Capshaw from Monroe County, were recognized for their distinguished service. Such accolades underscore the dedication required to serve the community effectively.

Keynoter Reflects on Legacy: Arkansas State Police Foundation President Elizabeth Anderson introduced retired ASP Director J.R. Howard as the keynote speaker. With a law enforcement career spanning over four decades, beginning as an Arkansas State Trooper in 1971, Director Howard inspired the audience with his rich experience and commitment to justice.
