A Benton Man’s 50-Year Sentence for Child Pornography

A 33-year-old Warren County man named Mason Swanson was sentenced to 20 to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to seven felony counts of child pornography possession.

Determined to be a sexually violent predator, Swanson must also register for life as a sexual predator. This conviction follows a previous one for indecent assault and corruption of minors due to sexual contact with a 13-year-old child.

The investigation discovered child pornography files being downloaded from Swanson’s IP address. Upon searching his home, multiple electronic devices were found to contain child pornography.

In an interview, Swanson admitted to regularly viewing child pornography. His case highlights the severe repercussions for these crimes, ensuring he will be kept away from vulnerable children.

The Attorney General emphasized that such crimes will continue to be vigorously prosecuted to protect children from predators like Swanson.

Indeed, such cases underscore that possessing child pornography is a serious offense, warranting long prison sentences to shield the public from these dangerous offenders.
