Benton Parks and Recreation Hosts Adaptive Dance Luau

Benton Parks and Recreation has announced the Annual Adaptive Dance Luau, taking place at the River Center Gymnasium on Friday, August 11th. This inclusive event offers a sensory-friendly dance party designed for individuals with sensory sensitivities, ensuring everyone can enjoy the celebration.

Inclusivity is at the heart of this event. The lights will be kept on, and the music volume will be toned down to create a comfortable environment. There will be refreshments, a photo booth, and a live DJ to keep the entertainment going. Admission is free, but registration is required due to limited space.

The event is part of a series of inclusive initiatives by Benton Parks and Recreation. It demonstrates their commitment to ensuring that all events and activities are accessible and enjoyable for people of all ages and abilities.

The Adaptive Dance Luau is made possible through the sponsorship of Horton’s Orthotics & Prosthetics, Friendship Pediatric Services, Kidsource Therapy, AAROC’s Autism Alliance of Saline County, Civitan Services, Community Connections, and Grow Learning Centre.

This adaptive dance event is just one of many initiatives by Benton Parks and Recreation that foster a sense of community and inclusivity for its residents.

The same weekend, on August 12th, the Back to School Bash and Family Glow Run will take place, including bounce houses, a rock climbing wall, and glow-in-the-dark accessories. Plus, Kona Ice and Twisted Fries food trucks will be on hand for refreshments.

Registration for the Family Glow Run is free for kids 12 and under and priced at for others. Day-of registration will be . All proceeds will go to the Benton School District partner, Bright Futures.
