Buc-ee’s Officially Coming to Arkansas
After months of speculation and rumors, it has been officially confirmed that Buc-ee’s will open a location in Benton, Arkansas. This marks a significant milestone for the state and for the convenience store chain, as it expands its presence across the American South.
City officials have announced that the massive convenience store will be located off exit 114 along Interstate 30. The planning commission has approved the site and utilities plan, although details on the sign height remain pending. Reportedly, the company requested signage between 125 and 150 feet tall, but this has been tabled for further discussion due to unclear measurements.
The new Buc-ee’s will be one of the largest locations ever built, featuring a remarkable 75,000 square feet of retail space. It will boast over 100 fueling positions and create 225 jobs in the area. The store will include a variety of popular food options, a shopping area with branded merchandise, and its famous large, clean bathrooms. In fact, Buc-ee’s has become such a tourist destination in itself that Benton officials expect an estimated 3 million visitors annually.
Significance of the Location
This move represents a notable expansion for Buc-ee’s, stretching its footprint across 17 states. The Benton location is expected to be part of the company’s multi-year strategy to cover more ground in the Southeast and beyond. Plans are already underway for new stores in other states like Mississippi, Louisiana, Ohio, Virginia, Wisconsin, North Carolina, and Arizona.
Buc-ee’s growth in recent years has been substantial, moving from its Texas origin to open stores across the South. Founded in 1982, the chain is known for its unique offerings, including made-to-order sandwiches and fudge. Today, it operates 47 stores across multiple states.
While exact timelines for construction and opening are yet to be disclosed, Buc-ee’s represents a significant boost to local tourism and tax revenues. Its presence will likely create a chain effect of economic benefits and activity in the region.
Benton Prepares for Buc-ee’s Arrival
City authorities have expressed enthusiasm and optimism about the new Buc-ee’s. Mayor Tom Farmer’s office has been actively working with the company to finalize the agreement and secure the 29-acre land for the store. According to officials, the airport-style fueling station and their branded offerings will make the Benton location a major destination in itself.
Attendees at the Salt Bowl, a local event, received the news in a video announcement by Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders. The community has welcomed the news with positive anticipation, given the potential economic and tourism benefits the store will bring to the area.
As Benton gets ready for the construction and eventual opening of Buc-ee’s, residents and visitors alike can look forward to a significant shift in the retail landscape of Central Arkansas.
