Community Discusses Future of Hindman Park at Master Plan Meeting
Thursday night marked the third and final meeting focused on the master plan for Little Rock’s Hindman Park, where the community gathered to share their thoughts on the future development of the park.
The master plan, currently in its final stages, includes preliminary plans to expand disc golf and add mountain biking to the existing offerings. The park, which once housed a popular golf course that closed in 2019, has since transformed into a disc golf course. The City of Little Rock is now seeking public input to refine its plans and ensure they meet the community’s needs and aspirations.
Attendees were enthusiastic about the opportunities the park presents, with many highlighting the potential for growth. Norm Berner of Keep Little Rock Beautiful expressed hope that the plans would receive a chance to flourish. The city is awaiting the outcome of the 1% sales tax increase vote in November, which could provide million in funding for the project. Regardless of the outcome, the city will have a solid plan to work from, either to apply for grants or explore alternative funding sources.
- The next steps involve finalizing the master plan, which will be influenced by the community’s feedback, and then securing the necessary funds to bring the plans to life.
As the city moves forward with its plans, it remains committed to engaging the public and ensuring that the revitalization of Hindman Park reflects the needs and desires of the community.
