At just 26 years old, Drew County Game Warden Austin Powell has made a remarkable impact in conservation enforcement in Arkansas. His hard work and dedication were recognized recently when he received the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s (AGFC) Officer of the Year Award. This prestigious acknowledgement comes after several impressive case-solving achievements and community outreach efforts.
Going the Extra Mile
Powell, based out of the AGFC Enforcement Division’s Monticello office, is known for his relentless pursuit of justice. His innovative use of technology has led to the successful prosecution of numerous high-profile violations, including cases involving night hunting, road hunting, and falsifying information. His impressive statistics include issuing 248 citations last year with an average fine of 0 per citation.
A Humanitarian Touch
Beyond his work in law enforcement, Powell also showed his compassionate side when he and colleague Game Warden Aaron Dillard received a Lifesaving Award for rescuing a girl from being swept away by the Mississippi River.
