Temporary Closure Ahead: Frontage Road South of I-30 in Saline County
Motorists planning to traverse the frontage road south of I-30 in Saline County must prepare for temporary closures this weekend. Beginning on Friday, the section between the Mountain View Cutoff and Highway 67/229 will be shut down to accommodate necessary roadwork and infrastructure improvement projects.
The closure is part of the ongoing effort to widen Interstate 30 to six lanes, enhancing travel and addressing growing traffic demands. Other sections of the frontage road have experienced closures in the past few months, including an overnight closure earlier this year due to bridge work.
In addition to the frontage road closures, drivers should also be aware of other changes to ramp access in the area. For example, the Highway 67 on-ramp to I-30 east has faced restrictions, necessitating detours through other routes. These detours direct drivers west on Frontage Road, then west on I-30 to Exit 106, followed by a southbound route towards the I-30 East on-ramp, ultimately reconnecting with I-30.
The multi-million-dollar widening project, part of the Connecting Arkansas Program, will not only improve traffic flow but also enhance safety features and reduce noise pollution. Construction efforts continue to proceed under the careful planning of the Arkansas Department of Transportation, ensuring a better travel experience for both locals and visitors to the area.
As motorist prepare for the closure, vigilance is essential. Message boards, construction barrels, and signage will guide traffic to ensure a smoother transition. With the I-30 widening project making steady progress, drivers can expect increased convenience and a more efficient commute in the near future.
