Interstate 30 westbound ramp closures scheduled for Wednesday in Benton

Ramp Closures Scheduled for Interstate 30 in Benton

The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) has announced a series of nightly ramp closures on Interstate 30 to facilitate construction and repairs. Two sets of ramp closures are planned, focusing on the westbound lanes near Benton.

On Wednesday, September 11, the westbound off- and on-ramps at South Street (Exit 116) will be closed, starting at 10 p.m. and lasting until 6 a.m. the next morning. This closure is part of the larger project to widen Interstate 30 to six lanes in Saline County. To navigate around these closures, signed detours will be in place. Frontage road traffic will need to use Highway 229 and the frontage road, while exiting traffic will detour to Highway 5/35 via I-30 westbound Exit 117.

This extensive project aims to improve a 5.5-mile stretch of Interstate 30 to accommodate three lanes in each direction. The project includes widening the highway from the interchange with U.S. Highway 70 (Exit 111) to Sevier Street in Benton (Exit 116), as well as enhancements at the Highway 67 interchange (Exit 114). Budgeted at 7.3 million, this project is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program.

Residents and commuters are advised to exercise caution while traversing these work zones and to anticipate slower traffic speeds. Additionally, areas adjacent to the Interstate may experience noise impacts during the overnight construction hours.

ARDOT has provided a detailed detour map for the affected ramps, ensuring that traffic can safely navigate around the closures. Emergency vehicles will also be accommodated with special arrangements to maintain access to the closed ramps. As part of the broader efforts to modernize and improve the state’s highway infrastructure, these ramp closures represent a crucial step toward enhancing safety and efficiency.

In addition to the local Benton closures, there are also ramp closures scheduled during the same period on Interstate 430 and Interstate 630. Lane closures are also planned for Interstate 30 in Little Rock and North Little Rock. ARDOT continues to update travelers about ongoing construction through its news channels and encourages drivers to stay alert and plan ahead.
