As August swings into action, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) is gearing up for a whole month of shooting sports excitement. If you didn’t get your fill of fireworks on the Fourth of July, head to the Fiocchi Shooting Sports Complex in Mayflower for a host of special deals.

Bill Haynes, the complex manager, announced that anyone aged 6 to 17 or 65 years and older can shoot for free all month long at the rifle and pistol ranges. Additionally, if you’ve purchased a new rifle or pistol within the last 60 days, you can come to the range and do some shooting for free. And if you’ve bought or renewed your license since July 1, you’ll get to use the pistol and rifle ranges for free as well.

But that’s not all. Skeet and trap games at the complex are half price for the entire month, with each round of clays costing a mere . The AGFC is also hosting some special events throughout August. Family Week runs from August 4 to 10, where everyone in the family gets to shoot at the rifle and pistol range for free. There’s also a ladies’ weekend on August 10 to 11, dedicated to the fastest-growing segment of outdoors enthusiasts, where women can shoot for free at the rifle, pistol, or shotgun ranges.

Staff will be hosting a free ladies shotgun fundamentals class from 9 a.m. to noon on August 10 and a ladies-only class on handguns from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on August 11. More details and registration information for these classes are available through the AGFC’s online event calendar. Archery enthusiasts aren’t left out, either. The AGFC has partnered with the Arkansas Bowhunters Association to offer a special Introduction to Archery and Bowhunting course on August 17 at the complex’s archery range.
