UA Little Rock Prepares to Unveil Transformative Trojan Way
UA Little Rock is poised to open its highly anticipated Trojan Way, a comprehensive campus renovation project that will significantly enhance the university’s central area. The endeavor, funded by a generous .5 million grant from the Donaghey Foundation and other contributors, aims to foster a more social and welcoming environment on campus.
Upon completion, Trojan Way will serve as a key promenade connecting the north and south sections of the university. This revamped walkway will feature upgraded seating areas, gathering spaces, and enhanced landscaping. Additionally, the project includes the construction of a new outdoor stage and expanded seating arrangements, providing students, faculty, and staff with an ideal setting for events and socialization.
The renovation is part of a broader effort to transform the heart of the campus. This includes the creation of a new Library Plaza, which will reimagine the outdoor space adjacent to the Ottenheimer Library as a vibrant learning environment. The plaza will incorporate a seating wall, a stage for events, and canopy trees for shade. These enhancements are designed to promote connections and living-learning experiences among the campus community.
The university has taken steps to minimize disruptions during the construction process, which has spanned approximately 18 months. To ensure accessibility, temporary walkways and fencing have been implemented. Despite these efforts, significant changes are still expected, particularly around the Library Plaza, the Library entrance, Parking Lot 1, and Parking Lot 9.
In response to the transformations, Student Government Association President An Le noted that students are already embracing the new facilities, expressing enthusiasm for hosting events in the revitalized space. The enhanced campus ambiance is expected to make a significant impact on student life and attract visitors alike.
UA Little Rock will officially dedicate Trojan Way with an event on October 8 at 4 PM, marking a major milestone in the university’s campus improvement initiatives.
