UA Little Rock Prepares to Unveil a Transformed Campus
UA Little Rock is in the midst of several transformative projects aimed at enhancing the campus experience for students, faculty, and visitors. At the heart of these efforts is the development of Trojan Way, a comprehensive makeover of the main north-to-south promenade traversing the campus.
The project, funded through an .4 million grant from the Donaghey Foundation, will introduce a variety of amenities designed to foster a more cohesive and inviting learning environment. These include enhanced walkways, additional seating areas, and several gathering spaces to facilitate social interaction and collaboration among the university community.
The transformation involves replacing the existing red brick walkways with new materials, planting campus trees, and upgrading lighting infrastructure to ensure a more pleasurable and accessible campus experience. Furthermore, the pathways will now be punctuated with various gathering spaces, providing ample opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to engage with one another.
The phased rollout of Trojan Way will see significant sections opened in March and April, significantly impacting mobility around the Fine Arts Building, Trojan A, and the areas around the Ottenheimer Library. The careful staging of the project aims to minimize disruptions to regular campus activities while engaged in this substantial renovation.
A detailed construction map highlights the areas most affected by the construction fencing and temporary walkways. Importantly, the university emphasizes that these alterations will be temporary and that the project’s scope is designed to ultimately enhance the campus experience for all users.
The Jack Stephens Center, a state-of-the-art facility housing various athletic events, is also undergoing repairs. This includes replacing the damaged concourse floor, which was affected by inclement weather in December 2022. The arena, known for its advanced features like video boards and luxury suites, hosts various events beyond athletics, including academic support and non-athletic functions.
Additional projects underway at UA Little Rock include renovations to the Bowen School of Law, Ross Hall, and ETAS Annex, as well as upgrades to the College of Business, Health, and Human Services Advising Center. These improvements demonstrate the university’s commitment to creating a holistic learning environment that is both functional and visually appealing.
