UAMS Celebrates 10th Consecutive Year of Recognition for High-Quality Stroke Care
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has once again demonstrated its commitment to providing exceptional stroke care by receiving the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Gold Plus quality achievement award for the 10th consecutive year. This recognition highlights UAMS’s consistent efforts to ensure that its stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment, leading to better survival rates and reduced disability.
This repeated achievement showcases UAMS’s commitment to ensuring that all Arkansans have access to the best practices for stroke care. The institution’s commitment to following the latest treatment guidelines has resulted in improved patient outcomes, fewer readmissions, and lower mortality rates.
UAMS also received three Honor Roll awards for its timely treatment of stroke patients after arrival and its evidence-based care for stroke patients with Type 2 diabetes. These awards include the Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite, the Target: Stroke Advanced Therapy Honor Roll, and the Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll.
In addition to these recognitions, UAMS has been a leader in stroke care since becoming the first Comprehensive Stroke Center in Arkansas in 2018. Today, it remains one of only two such centers in the state. The institution’s stroke program has met rigorous criteria to ensure that stroke patients receive the most advanced treatments, leading to the best outcomes.
Early stroke detection and treatment are critical in improving survival, minimizing disability, and accelerating recovery times. UAMS’s dedication to these principles has led to significant strides in the field of stroke care. This dedication is reflected in the continued recognition it receives from reputable organizations like the American Heart Association.
UAMS remains committed to its mission of delivering high-quality care to its patients. Its participation in the Get With The Guidelines program enables its teams to apply the latest research-based knowledge and guidelines to the care of stroke patients daily, saving more lives and reducing disability caused by strokes.
