The 46th Annual Ozark Quilt Fair: Showcasing Ozark Tradition and Community
The Ozark Quilt Fair, a celebration of Ozark crafts, will return to Shiloh Museum of Ozark History for its 46th annual event. This year’s fair promises to once again highlight the rich tradition and community relationships that have endured for generations.
The fair will take place on Saturday, September 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the grounds of Shiloh Museum in Springdale. The event will feature a variety of activities, including live music by Clarke Buehling’s Carousel Orchestra, brunch available from Hawk and Robin food truck, and free quilt-themed art-making activities for youth and families. A scavenger hunt will also be held during the event.
In addition to these activities, the fair will include a quilt exhibition where Viewers Choice prizes will be awarded for both new and antique quilts. The first prize in each category is 0, the second is , and the third is . The awards will be presented at 2 p.m.
The event is free to the public, but exhibitors must register for , which includes a boxed lunch. Additional lunches can be pre-ordered for each. Exhibitors must register by Wednesday, September 4, at 5 p.m. The quilts can be displayed for sale, but the museum requests that sales take place off-site to avoid the complications of collecting sales tax.
Quilt Categories and Rules
- All quilts must be quilted or tied by hand or by free-motion machine quilting.
- No computer-programmed, template, or pantograph patterns are allowed.
- Tops may be pieced, embroidered, or appliquéd, and machine piecing is acceptable.
- No other forms of needlework are allowed for exhibiting or sales (e.g., no cross-stitch, crochet, or knitting).
Security and Logistics
Ropes will be stretched between trees for hanging quilts, with each exhibitor allotted up to 15 feet of rope. Chairs and tables can be brought for extra display space. Exhibitors are responsible for the security of their quilts, as the museum staff and volunteers will only provide general supervision.
