‘Antiques Roadshow’ Episodes Shot in Bentonville to Air in January; Premiere Screening at Crystal Bridges
The 29th season of Antiques Roadshow is set to premiere with three episodes filmed at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas. The episodes will air on PBS beginning January 6, 13, and 20. This marks a first-time stop for the show in Bentonville, which drew over 3,000 people to the museum for the filming in May.
- Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Hour 1: Premieres on January 6 and features items like a 1976 Marvel UK Super Spider-Man #175 cover art, a 1926 Rogers Hornsby sterling trophy, and Winslow Homer watercolors from 1879. One of the watercolors is valued between 0,000 and 0,000.
- Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Hour 2: Premieres on January 13 and includes treasures such as an Elvis Presley-signed ice cream display, an Arnold Palmer-engraved golf club from 1980, and a Marvel Silver Age comics collection. One of the finds is valued between ,000 and ,000.
- Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Hour 3: Premieres on January 20 and showcases items like an 1857 Queen’s Cup ascot rac•e trophy, a 1956 Curta calculator type II, and an Art Deco sapphire and platinum ring.
To celebrate the premiere of these episodes, Arkansas PBS and Crystal Bridges are hosting a free screening event featuring highlights from all three episodes. The event takes place at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art on Saturday, January 11, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. CST in the Great Hall. Special guests include Sam Farrell, senior producer of Antiques Roadshow, Nigel Freeman, an appraiser from the show, Kim Teehee, a Cherokee Nation representative, and Austen Barron Bailly, chief curator for Crystal Bridges and The Momentary.
The first 100 attendees will receive free admission to Crystal Bridges’ special exhibition “Knowing the West,” which is the first major traveling exhibition to embrace the American West as more inclusive, complex, and reflective of the diverse peoples who contributed to art and life there.
This event is a chance for the public to get a behind-the-scenes look at the filming process and hear from experts about the fascinating items they appraised during their visit to Bentonville. It’s also an opportunity to experience some of the incredible treasures discovered during the filming at Crystal Bridges.
