It is essential for those applying for marriage licenses to understand and fulfill the associated legal requirements. These include the three-day waiting period, which can be waived for an additional fee, and the prohibition on first cousins obtaining a marriage license.

Both parties must be at least 18 years old to apply, and a legal guardian’s presence is required if one party is 17. Moreover, marriage and domestic partnership records cannot be amended to reflect legal name or sex changes issued at a later date.

These licenses highlight the significance of Benton County in providing a platform for couples to begin their married lives.
