Bentonville drainage work to reduce flooding requires lane closures starting Wednesday

Bentonville Takes Action Against Flooding with Drainage Work

Bentonville is gearing up to tackle the persistent issue of flooding in its downtown area. As part of this effort, the city has announced that a section of Northwest Second Street will undergo lane closures starting Wednesday to facilitate drainage improvement work.

The closures will last for just over two weeks and will involve reducing the street to a single lane. Additionally, Northwest D Street between Northwest Second and Northwest Jefferson streets will have the southbound lane closed, and so will Northwest D Street between West Central Avenue and Northwest Second Street for through traffic. The project aims to significantly reduce the instances of flooding in the downtown area, making it a safer and more enjoyable place for residents and visitors alike.

This comprehensive drainage improvement project is part of a broader initiative by the city to address various areas prone to flooding. The city’s ambitious plan involves 25 separate projects to enhance drainage control systems, ensuring a safer and more resilient community.
