Bentonville Public Library Prepares for Final Stretch of Expansion
The Bentonville Public Library is entering the home stretch of its highly anticipated expansion project. As part of this final push, the library has announced a four-week closure from September 29 through October 27.
This temporary closure will allow for the installation of new furniture, the relocation of the collection, and the setup of technology, a fishtank, and artwork. The library aims to complete these crucial tasks without disrupting its services to the community.
The expansion project includes significant enhancements, such as a larger children’s department with a storytime space and craft area, a reimagined teen zone with study and collaboration spaces, and additional meeting rooms for community use. These developments will significantly improve the library’s ability to serve patrons of all ages.
The project’s timeline has been marked by key milestones, including a two-week closure in May to relocate the Friends of the Library Read It Again Bookstore and install a new materials sorter. The library is poised to unveil its transformed spaces with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 30.
This ambitious project, with an estimated budget of .75 million, will nearly triple the library’s square footage and provide a modern, vibrant space that better serves the community. The final result promises to elevate the library experience and foster connections between patrons and the surrounding environment.
During the closure, library staff will work diligently to ensure a smooth transition into the new spaces. Once complete, the Bentonville Public Library will host a series of ribbon-cutting ceremonies to officially unveil its expansion.
