Centerton City Council appoints new member after resignation in Northwest Arkansas

Centerton City Council Seeks New Member After Resignation

The Centerton City Council is in the process of filling a vacant seat after the resignation of Council Member Amy Rochette, who moved away amidst her four-year term. This marks the latest change for the council, which has experienced several resignations and vacancies in recent years.

The council’s history of resignations dates back to 2007, when former Mayor Ken Williams, whose real name was Don LaRose, stepped down after it was revealed that he had been living under an assumed identity for over 20 years. More recently, in March 2024, Misty Elam resigned from the council due to her husband’s job relocation to Louisiana

As per Arkansas municipal law, the council will handle the process of replacing Rochette. The vacancy creates an opportunity for a new member to join the council and contribute to the city’s governance and development projects, such as the expansion of the Centerton Water and Sewer Department, the addition of new firefighters, and the remodel of the Animal Control facility.

  • The council’s recent decisions include Ordinance 2024-11, which authorized the acceptance of a warranty deed for property on Wolverine Drive
  • Changes were made to job titles within Centerton Animal Control and Public Works to better reflect their current roles

This latest vacancy signifies the need for new faces and fresh perspectives to join the City Council, ensuring that the needs and interests of Centerton’s growing community are well represented.
