Conway romps by Bentonville

Conway Secures Fourth Consecutive Win Over Bentonville

Conway’s football team continued its dominance over Bentonville, winning their latest encounter 55-21. This marked the fourth consecutive time the Wampus Cats have defeated their rivals from Northwest Arkansas.

Conway’s impressive performance was led by senior Grayson Wilson. He demonstrated exceptional skill, completing 19 of 26 passes for 328 yards and four touchdowns, with only one interception.

The Wampus Cats’ offense was not limited to Wilson, as other players made significant contributions. Trey Harris had 115 yards of total offense, scoring a touchdown on the ground and through the air. Meanwhile, Alex McCray and Kambrien Blackmon added crucial catches, with McCray racking up 168 yards and two touchdowns and Blackmon tallying 62 yards and a score.

Coach Buck James praised both his team and Bentonville, emphasizing the importance of in-state rivalries for the growth of Arkansas football. “Iron sharpens iron,” he noted, highlighting the need for top-notch competition within the state.

Bentonville, though defeated, showed resilience, managing to score 21 points. Their quarterback, Trevor Grant, threw a touchdown pass to Mason Hawkins in the fourth quarter. The Tigers seem poised to bounce back, as Coach James acknowledged, saying, “They’re going to win a lot of games.”

This decisive victory solidifies Conway’s strength in the region, and their strong adversary in Bentonville ensures that future matches will be highly competitive.
