Free Event on September 17 Offers Assistance with Sealing Court Records
On September 17, the Arkansas Justice Reform Coalition will host a free event at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, aimed at helping individuals seal their court records. This service allows people to hide their criminal history from public view, which can significantly impact their ability to secure jobs, housing, and educational opportunities.
This event is part of a larger effort to provide legal assistance and support to those who have completed their court obligations. The process of sealing records involves meeting certain conditions, including the completion of sentences and the payment of restitution, fees, and costs. After sealing these records, past charges and arrests will not show up when individuals apply for various opportunities.
- The event focuses on helping individuals with charges originating from Washington County courts and cities such as Johnson, West Fork, Tontitown, Elm Springs, Springdale, Fayetteville, Elkins, Farmington, Prairie Grove, and Lincoln.
Registration is available online or by calling Legal Aid, and walk-ins will be accepted based on the availability of attorneys. The event also includes light refreshments and local resource professionals on site to provide additional support.
