How Bentonville Residents Can Get Help Paying for an E-Bike with New Rebate Program

New E-Bike Rebate Program for Bentonville Residents

Residents of Bentonville will soon have the opportunity to receive financial assistance in purchasing electric bicycles through the city’s new rebate program.

Bentonville’s initiative aims to promote eco-friendly transportation and alleviate traffic congestion. The program, made possible by nearly million in grants, including a 0,000 grant from Walmart Corporate and a .5 million grant from the Walton Family Foundation, will provide rebates for e-bikes purchased from local vendors.

To participate, Bentonville residents will need to meet specific requirements, including residency verification and income-based criteria. The program is structured to benefit both low-income and higher-income residents, with rebates ranging from 0 for standard e-bikes to ,300 for advanced and specialty e-bikes.

Jackie Bubenik, the city’s bike and pedestrian planner, emphasized the need for alternative forms of transportation in a rapidly growing community. “We’re playing catch-up with our infrastructure to handle all vehicles, and we’re looking at different ways to help mitigate that issue with so many vehicles on the road,” Bubenik explained.

The program is exclusively for Bentonville residents, and participating vendors will provide discounted rates after a verification and sign-up process. Vouchers will also be available for residents who require additional support.

Bentonville’s city council has approved the final measure for the program, and promotional activities are set to begin in July. Residents will be able to apply for the rebates online and by phone, and the city has enlisted the help of a consultant to administer the initiative.

Local bike shops will play a key role in the program, offering a wide range of e-bikes to suit different needs and preferences.

Benefits and Goals

By promoting the use of e-bikes, the city aims to reduce traffic congestion, promote a cleaner environment, and create a more pedestrian-friendly community. The program is seen as a step towards creating safer and more accessible transportation options for residents.

Rebate Structure

Based on income, rebates will be distributed as follows:

  • 0 for standard e-bikes (lower-income applicants)
  • 0 for advanced e-bikes (lower-income applicants)
  • 0 for standard e-bikes (non-income-based applicants)
  • ,300 for advanced and specialty e-bikes (non-income-based applicants)

The program is set to launch in late July, and Bentonville residents are encouraged to stay updated on the program through the city’s social media channels.

The initiative promises to bring significant benefits to the community, including increased accessibility to education and employment opportunities, as well as promoting a healthier environment through reduced vehicle reliance.
