Luke Dumpert and Community Radio

Luke Dumpert plays a significant role in the local music scene in Northwest Arkansas. Working at both KUAF Public Radio and KXUA, the student-led radio station on the University of Arkansas campus, Luke bridgestogether two important platforms for promoting local talent.

At KUAF, Luke has been involved in several community projects. He sits down with Caleb Burkholder to interview Robert Ginsburg, founder of the Northwest Arkansas Jazz Society and host of Shades of Jazz, discussing the upcoming 2024 Summer Jazz Series.

These community-spotlight projects contribute to the vibrant music landscape of the region, exposing audiences to diverse local bands such as Green Acres, Ted Hammig & the Campaign, Ouachita Dune, and Heather. The band Monomaus, particularly, exemplifies the innovative spirit of these emerging bands, blending a unique sound that draws fans to their performances.

  • Monomaus debuts with a garage show at 615 W North St. at 8:15 p.m. on April 23, setting the stage for a thriving local music scene.
  • Ouachita Dune’s energetic live shows resonate with their growing fan base, drawing from influences like King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
  • Green Acres channels Northern California-style rock, blending classic and modern psychedelia seamlessly.
  • Ted Hammig & the Campaign crafts music with a catchy, laid-back feel, rooted in classic rock.
  • Heather’s distinct sound combines elements of stoner metal and shoegaze, adding to the region’s diverse musical offerings.

This unique blend of local talent and engaging radio programming helps foster a rich cultural environment, making Northwest Arkansas a hotspot for music discovery and community engagement.
