Northwest Technical Institute Appoints Interim President Following Resignation of Jim Rollins
Effective June 30, Dr. Jim Rollins will step down as president of Northwest Technical Institute (NWTI) due to health concerns. Rollins, who has led the institution since 2020, cited his recent heart surgery and prolonged recovery as the reason for his resignation.
In response to Rollins’ departure, the board of directors at NWTI has appointed an interim president to assume the role. This transition comes after a period of significant achievements under Rollins’ leadership, including the re-accreditation by the Council on Occupational Education, the launch of the NWTI Education Foundation, and enhanced partnerships with local industry and philanthropic leaders.
Rollins’ dedication to the students and staff of NWTI was evident in his farewell statement, where he expressed his deep gratitude to those he has served with and acknowledged the exceptional abilities of the students. His fifty-two-year career in Arkansas education has been marked by distinction and commitment, making his departure a mix of sadness and appreciation.
The search for a permanent replacement is currently underway, though no further details have been disclosed by the board of directors. As NWTI remains dedicated to providing high-quality technical education and training, this transition marks a significant turning point for the institution and its community.
