Springdale council OKs buying police vehicles for 4,216 after mayor casts deciding vote

Springdale Council Approves Purchase of Police Vehicles

The Springdale City Council has approved the purchase of 12 new police vehicles for this year. This decision came about after the City Council Police and Fire Committee endorsed the proposal, which aims to save costs by acquiring 2024-model cars rather than waiting for the 2025 models.

Springdale Police Department Chief presented this cost-saving plan, suggesting it would be more economical to purchase the current year’s model instead of delaying until the next year’s models become available. This strategic approach was met with approval from the council committee, ensuring the department can upgrade its fleet efficiently.

This move mirrors similar actions taken by other local authorities. In a recent meeting, Milford’s Chief of Police, Cecelia Ashe, requested funding to purchase four new police vehicles from Hertrich. Similarly, Fort Recovery Village Council has also approved the purchase of a new police vehicle, solidifying the commitment of local authorities to modernize their police fleets.
