The Front Porch Debuts at Shiloh Museum

Shiloh Museum of Ozark History has unveiled its latest attraction, The Front Porch, a stylish addition to the museum’s front yard. The captivating space features a performance area and benches adorned with an art canopy designed by the talented Elizabeth Ray.

This charming outlet is part of the museum’s ongoing efforts to revitalize its campus. The update is supported by a Community Placemaking Grant from Project for Public Spaces, which the museum received in 2023. The project commenced in June 2024, bringing a fresh look to the grounds.

  • The Front Porch promises to become a vibrant hub for the community, hosting events and performances
that celebrate the rich heritage and traditions of the Ozarks.

As part of the celebration of this new space, the Shiloh Museum recently held a contest to name the revamped front yard. The public was invited to vote for one of three pre-selected names for the area. The winning entry will be announced by the end of the month, with the person who submitted it being rewarded for their ingenuity.

The museum already hosts various events and exhibits, including the Ozark Quilt Fair, which recently showcased a new outdoor shade canopy called The Front Canopy. The fair, now in its 46th year, highlights the cultural significance of Ozark crafts and the bonds within the community.

The Shiloh Museum’s dedicated approach to preserving local history is evident in its beautifully curated campus, which includes multiple historic buildings where visitors can explore and learn.

The combination of new and historic elements is sure to make Shiloh Museum a hotspot for community engagement and cultural experiences.
