USA Cycling Unveils 2024 Olympic Mountain Bike Team in Bentonville
USA Cycling has officially announced its 2024 Olympic Mountain Bike team, with four talented athletes set to represent the United States in Paris. Haley Batten, Savilia Blunk, Christopher Blevins, and Riley Amos will take to the cross-country course this summer, following a rigorous selection process based on their international ranking points through the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).
The team consists of two returning Olympians and two first-timers, all of whom have demonstrated exceptional skills in recent UCI Mountain Bike World Cups. Their performances have catapulted the U.S. men into the top five of the MTB Olympic Qualification Rankings and the U.S. women into the top three, securing maximum quota spots for both genders.
- Haley Batten, the 2024 Pan American Champion, returns to the Olympic team after doubling down with wins in both the Short Track and Cross-Country events at a UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Brazil.
- Savilia Blunk, the back-to-back U.S. National Champion, will make her Olympic debut, having showcased her abilities with silver and bronze medals in opening World Cup rounds.
- Christopher Blevins, a Short Track World Champion and Tokyo 2020 Olympian, joins the men’s team along with Riley Amos, who hails from Durango, Colorado – a town known for its Olympic legacy in mountain biking.
USA Cycling’s Director of Mountain Bike, Alec Pasqualina, expressed confidence in the team’s medal potential, highlighting the progress made since Tokyo and their determination to make their mark in Paris.
Bentonville, Arkansas, which has become the hub of USA Cycling’s activities, will continue to play a significant role in supporting the athletes as they prepare for the Olympic Games and beyond. The community’s warmth and the world-class trail network are expected to be instrumental in helping the athletes reach peak performance.
