Walmart AMP Continues to Break Records
The Walmart Arkansas Music Pavilion (Walmart AMP) has been at the forefront of Northwest Arkansas’ vibrant music scene for over two decades. Located in Rogers, this iconic outdoor amphitheater has consistently pushed boundaries and set new attendance records, cementing its position as one of the top music venues in the region.
A Rich History of Music Excellence
Opening in 2005 as a semi-permanent venue, the AMP quickly gained popularity and became a permanent fixture in 2014. With its prime location overlooking the city of Fayetteville, the venue welcomed some of the biggest names in music. Its initial success was driven by the support of the Fayetteville Economic Development Council, who recognized the potential for artistic and economic growth. From its early days, the AMP became a beloved spot for both locals and visitors, hosting numerous community fundraising events and high-profile tours.
Celebrating Success and Growth
Under the ownership of the Walton Arts Center since 2011, the AMP has seen a significant increase in ticket sales and overall turnout. One of the most notable changes was moving the venue to the Washington County Fairgrounds for the 2012 and 2013 seasons, which surprisingly boosted ticket sales and event attendance. This strategic move was followed by plans to build a permanent structure, finally coming to fruition in 2014. With Walmart, Inc. purchasing the naming rights, the venue was officially renamed the Walmart AMP.
Breaking Attendance Records
In recent years, the Walmart AMP has continued to shatter attendance records. In December 2023, a show by Chappell Roan set a new record with an impressive 10,881 attendees, one of the five shows that year to draw crowds of over 10,000 people. This achievement is a testament to the venue’s enduring popularity and its ability to attract A-list performers and enthusiastic fans alike.
Community Engagement and Innovation
The Walmart AMP is not just about hosting concerts; it’s also deeply embedded in the community. The venue often collaborates with local organizations to host unique events like beer sampling, tech activations, and live music performances. For instance, it hosted an event supported by Samsung and Walmart in October, featuring beer sampling and live music. These innovative approaches have further solidified the AMP’s place as a cultural hub in Northwest Arkansas.
A Venue for All Ages and Genres
From rock and country to pop and electronic music, the AMP has welcomed a diverse range of artists. Whether it’s a sold-out show featuring world-famous acts like The Avett Brothers, Sheryl Crow, or a newer talent like Chappell Roan, the venue continues to be where music enthusiasts come to experience unforgettable performances. With its consistent ability to break attendance records and its dedication to community engagement, the Walmart Arkansas Music Pavilion remains an iconic symbol of Northwest Arkansas’ thriving music scene.
