AMFA receives 0,000 from Windgate Foundation for reduced tuition

Windgate Foundation Supports Education and the Arts

The Windgate Foundation, known for its focus on contemporary craft, visual arts, education, and poverty alleviation, has made significant grants to various institutions. One notable example is the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, which received a .5 million grant to endow the directorship of its School of Education. This investment aims to transform teacher education at the university and make it a premier provider of teachers in the state.

Another notable grant is the 5,000 given to the Central Arkansas Library System (CALS). This grant supports three key programs: expanding the library’s community outreach, hiring digital literacy coaches, and enhancing visual arts classes and programming at the library’s branches. The objective is to increase the library’s reach into underserved communities and provide resources for people to reach their full potential.

In addition to these grants, Windgate Foundation has also committed to supporting the arts. For instance, Artspace Windgate Campus, a mixed-use project for artists in Little Rock’s East End, is being advanced with the foundation’s support. Moreover, the Windgate Art and Design building at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith is being expanded to foster an immersive arts experience for students and the public.

The AR Museum of Fine Arts (AMFA) also benefited from the Windgate Foundation’s support. The museum is scheduled to reopen after a historic renovation project, which Windgate Foundation’s grant significantly contributed to. This transformation is poised to dramatically enhance the museum-going experience for the public.

These grants exemplify the Windgate Foundation’s dedication to fostering education, art, and community development in Arkansas.
