The Quest for the Perfect Watermelon
Growing the world’s largest watermelon is no easy feat. Chris “Superman” Kent, a seasoned watermelon grower from Sevierville, Tennessee, has been actively working towards this goal. Although he didn’t set a new world record this year, Kent grew the number one and number two melons in the world, marking a highly successful season. He also shares his knowledge and experience by sending seeds from his largest watermelons to other growers and participating in auctions to raise funds for future competitions.
A World of Flavors and Textures
In the realm of fruits, the durian stands out for its unique characteristics. Known as the “king of fruits,” the durian is remarkable for its size, thorn-covered rind, and intense aroma. The fruit’s flesh can be consumed at various ripeness stages and is often used in Southeast Asian cuisines to flavor both sweet and savory dishes. Its strong odor has drawn mixed reactions, ranging from appreciation to disgust, even leading to its ban in some hotels and public transportation in Southeast Asia.
