Dragon Boat Festival Brings Community Together for a Cause
Summer has finally arrived, and with it, the much-anticipated Dragon Boat Festival at Lake Willastein. This weekend, the lake’s tranquil atmosphere was electrified as colorful boats dashed across the water, driven by enthusiastic paddlers. The event, now in its fifth year, has become a beloved community tradition, bringing together people from all walks of life to celebrate the spirit of teamwork and raise vital funds for child protection services.
As early as 8 am, the festival grounds buzzed with energy. Teams of all ages donned matching uniforms and ranging in experience from seasoned veterans to nervous novices. The excitement was palpable as participants warmed up, stretched, and strategically planned their attack on the 500-meter course. Each team’s creativity and camaraderie were on full display as unique boat names, and costumes added to the vibrant atmosphere.
