Groundbreaking Set for Hwy 113 Relocation Project

The wait is almost over for the highly anticipated relocation project of Highway 113. The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) is preparing to break ground on this significant infrastructure development.

True to its commitment to modernizing the state’s transportation infrastructure, the project aims to reinvigorate a 2.4-mile stretch of the highway near Green Bay Packaging’s Arkansas Kraft paper mill. ARDOT officials are gearing up for the big event, and the community is buzzing with excitement.

A key highlight of the project is the revamped roadway, which will boast two 12-foot travel lanes accompanied by six-foot paved shoulders. This major upgrade not only promises improved safety but also ensures smoother traffic flow and enhanced overall travel experiences. The ambitious project comes with a price tag of .7 million.

One of the most compelling aspects of this project is the collaborative spirit that has made it possible. ARDOT Director Lorie Tudor highlighted the unique nature of the partnership, saying, “This partnering project emphasizes how much progress can be made when we all work together.” The extensive partnership includes Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, the Arkansas Highway Commission, Green Bay Packaging, Morrilton, and several counties.

The groundbreaking ceremony is set to take place on August 12. McGeorge Contracting Company has been awarded the contract for the project, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
