Bailey Library Joins Oberlin Group
Bailey Library at Hendrix College recently achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first library in Arkansas to join the prestigious Oberlin Group of Libraries. This invitation-only membership is a testament to the high quality of a Hendrix education and the library’s dedication to providing exceptional resources and support to its students and faculty.
As a part of this esteemed consortium of over 80 liberal arts college libraries, Bailey Library will have opportunities to engage with other esteemed institutions, sharing best practices and insights in library operations and services. Hendrix College Provost Teresa Garrett hailed this achievement, emphasizing that it reinforces the college’s standing among top-tier liberal arts institutions.
The Oberlin Group facilitates collaboration and knowledge sharing among its member libraries, with its directors and staff discussing common concerns and exchanging expertise in various areas. For Bailey Library, this means access to a broader network of resources, data, and expertise, which will directly benefit faculty and students. Director Professor Britt Anne Murphy will serve as the primary liaison between Hendrix College and the Oberlin Group.
This new affiliation also aligns with the broader goals of Hendrix College, which prioritizes academic quality, engaged learning opportunities, diversity, inclusion, and sustainable living. By joining the Oberlin Group, Bailey Library underscores its commitment to enhancing student experiences and promoting a culture of academic excellence.
