Hendrix College to Honor Five Alumni with Odyssey Medals

Hendrix College will award Odyssey Medals to five outstanding alumni at a private ceremony and luncheon on September 26. These honorees have demonstrated exceptional achievements in their respective fields, reflecting the core values of the Hendrix Odyssey Program.

The honorees include Cabrina Campbell ’85, who has made significant contributions to the field of psychiatry and medical education. Daniel Ellis ’96, an acclaimed opera and theatre director, will be recognized for his artistic creativity. Alan Tackett ’98, Lorraine Berry Woodward ’84, and Amanda Brooks ’08 will also receive medals for their outstanding work in professional development, inclusivity advocacy, and sports public relations, respectively.

Cabrina Campbell, a renowned psychiatrist, will receive her medal in the category of Professional and Leadership Development. Campbell is a professor and vice-chair of education at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, where she also directs the residency program. Her numerous awards and honors include Humanism and Medicine awards from the Association of American Medical Colleges and Penn Medicine, as well as the Robert Dunning Memorial Award and multiple Penn Pearl Awards for Excellence in Clinical Teaching.

Daniel Ellis has made a notable impact in the realm of Artistic Creativity. An Arkansas native, he has directed opera, theatre, and film professionally since his graduation from Hendrix College. His work includes the fully accessible short-term rental, offering comprehensive accessibility features for individuals with mobility, vision, hearing, or cognitive needs.

Alan Tackett ’98 will be honored for his achievements in Special Projects, while Lorraine Berry Woodward ’84 will receive her medal for her tireless efforts in promoting inclusivity and innovation in disability advocacy. Woodward has won numerous awards, including five global, sixteen national, twelve state, one regional, and fifteen local awards.

Amanda Brooks ’08 will be recognized in the category of Special Projects for her notable career in sports public relations, currently serving as a senior director of communications at ESPN. She leads publicity strategy for ESPN’s college sports portfolio and has been named to the Motivators category for PRNEWS’ Top Women in PR for 2024.

This prestigious award ceremony will take place on September 26, marking another year of Hendrix College celebrating its accomplished alumni.
