Remembering the Legacy of the Late PCSSD Security Guard
A Light in Darkness
Victor Montgomery, a 62-year-old school security guard with the Pulaski County Special School District (PCSSD), tragically lost his life in a sudden accident. On the first day of school, he was fatally hit by a vehicle while directing traffic outside Joe T. Robinson Elementary School. It has been nearly a year since that fateful day when Montgomery, known for his warm smile and dedication to ensuring the safety of students, was taken from the community that loved him.
Finding Strength in Memories
The family of Victor Montgomery continues to cope with the loss of their beloved father, husband, and uncle. His daughter, Angela Montgomery, and his niece, Kenesha Scott, shared heartfelt memories of the security guard, who always wore a smile from ear to ear to welcome students. They spoke of how he lived for protecting and serving the students, a testament to his selflessness.
Justice and Closure
Despite the family’s pain, they finally found some solace when Arkansas State Police arrested 55-year-old Desmond Nkala in January in connection with Montgomery’s death. However, even this development could not fully heal the wounds, as They awaited further justice.
The Lasting Impact
Montgomery left behind not only his family but a community that cherished him. His wife, Alice, was particularly moved by the countless stories of lives touched by him. In tribute to his memory, Alice started “PawPaw Pancakes,” a business that distributed ,600 in scholarships to deserving students in 2024. The love and kindness he showed his community will live on through these acts of kindness.
Continuing His Legacy
As the new school year approaches, the absence of Victor Montgomery’s warm presence is felt more deeply. His family continues to celebrate his legacy, encouraging everyone to remember what he taught them. It is now up to all who were touched by him to pass on that love and kindness to others.
