School Board to Honor Award Recipients

The school board has prepared to recognize outstanding achievements within the district at its latest meeting. Among the award winners are the Parkland Scholastic Scrimmage Team, who claimed the state championship title for the 2023-24 school year. This team, led by teacher and advisor Kellie O’Donnell, Includes team members Thomas Gilchrist, Joseph Peng, Alexander Saccone, Max Averbach, Samith Rohatgi, and Evan Frye, showcased their impressive skills as they defeated four teams en route to the championship.

At the same meeting, the Springhouse Middle School Math Counts Team was also honored for its state championship win. This team, which includes students Wesley Luo, Lucas Yang, Oscar Liu, and Eddy Zhang, demonstrated exceptional math skills, making it the second consecutive year they have taken the top prize. Notably, team member Zhang won the Pennsylvania individual championship for the second year in a row and will lead the team at the national competition in Washington, D.C.

In addition to these achievements, Kerin Steigerwalt, a seventh-grade teacher at Springhouse Middle School, received the 2024 International Society for Technology in Education Making It Happen award. This prestigious recognition highlights visionary educators who make significant impacts on their schools and students. The superintendent praised Steigerwalt for her contributions to both students and staff throughout the district.

The school board extends its congratulations to all the award-winning students and educators, emphasizing their dedication and hard work that led to these remarkable accomplishments.
