Maumelle High School Welcomes Student-Led Telcoe Credit Union
Recently, Maumelle High School proudly opened a student-led branch of Telcoe Federal Credit Union right inside the school. This remarkable partnership between Telcoe and Maumelle High aims to provide hands-on, experiential training in financial literacy to its students and staff. This collaborative effort is part of the Academies of Central Arkansas initiative, transforming high schools across Pulaski County by offering real-world learning experiences that align with students’ post-secondary goals.
Under the guidance of Telcoe staff and school teachers, selected students will work in the credit union branch during lunch hours, handling daily banking operations such as opening accounts, managing deposits and withdrawals, and more. These hands-on experiences will equip students with practical financial knowledge and essential employability skills.
- In addition to banking operations, students will participate in various career exploration activities, including career mentoring, mock interviewing, and potential internship opportunities through Telcoe’s involvement.
- The Telcoe Academy of Business and Service at Maumelle High School also offers opportunities for students to earn concurrent credit and industry-recognized credentials, helping them build a strong foundation for their future careers.
This partnership is a significant step towards making financial literacy a core part of students’ educational journey. By understanding financial concepts and applying them to real-life scenarios, students at Maumelle High School will be better equipped to make informed financial choices and maintain healthy financial habits throughout their lives.
