Student Orientation Staff Honored for Outstanding Leadership

The Student Orientation Staff (SOS) at the University of Central Arkansas received the prestigious CLAWS award at the August meeting of the Board of Trustees, celebrating their dedication to facilitating a smooth transitions for new students.

Composed of 90 volunteer student leaders, SOS is responsible for guiding students through various activities during SOAR and Welcome Week to help them adjust to college life. This honor acknowledges SOS’s tireless efforts to ensure that new students feel comfortable and supported as they embark on their academic journey at UCA.

The SOS team undergoes extensive leadership training throughout the spring semester and summer to prepare them for this important task, demonstrating a strong commitment to service and leadership.

The CLAWS award, presented by the University of Central Arkansas Board of Trustees, is a testament to the crucial role SOS plays in integrating new students into the UCA community.

By receiving this award, SOS has shown that their dedication to their students and their institution aligns with the highest values of the university.
