University of Central Arkansas Announces Incoming Honors Scholars for Fall 2024 Semester

80 incoming first-year students have been selected as the newest class of Schedler Honors College Scholars, and 40 have been chosen for the Schedler Honors Program at the University of Central Arkansas. These students, chosen from over 450 applicants, represent an exceptional group with an average high school GPA above 4.1 and an average ACT score of 30. The majority are from Arkansas, with a few from out-of-state.

Eligibility and Admissions Process

The selection process for these honors programs involves a holistic approach, considering factors such as academic performance, writing ability, and service and leadership potential. This comprehensive process includes written essays, letters of recommendation, and participation in a daylong orientation and interview.

Exclusive Opportunities for Honors Scholars

Acceptance into these programs comes with several benefits including supplemental scholarship funding, access to a living-learning community in Jefferson W. Farris Honors Hall, and a unique interdisciplinary curriculum. Students participating in these programs are involved in high-impact practices such as service learning, project-based education, collaborative work, and undergraduate research. Adding to this, they receive exclusive grant funding support for study abroad, undergraduate research, and internships.

Scholarships and Benefits

Incoming Schedler Honors College freshmen are awarded the Schedler Honors Stipend, valued at up to ,000 annually, renewable for eight semesters. Additionally, students admitted to the Schedler Honors College receive a single room upgrade scholarship, covering the difference in cost between private and standard double-room rates in Farris Honors Hall. These scholarships may stack with other academic scholarships and awards offered by the university.
