Arkansas Renaissance Festival Kicks Off with Opening Weekend

The Arkansas Renaissance Festival has officially opened its gates at Dragonstone Springs in Mt. Vernon, Arkansas. The festival began on August 31st and ran until September 2nd, featuring a jam-packed weekend of entertainment and activities for attendees of all ages.

Arriving guests were greeted by the majestic setup of the permanent 15th-century village, situated on 80 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds about a mile off Highway 36. The festival’s family-friendly environment boasted over 13 stage performers daily, with an incredible 40 shows each day along with 12+ lane performers. This created a dynamic, immersive experience for visitors to step back in time and indulge in the enchanting world of the Renaissance.

One of the main attractions was the thrilling jousting tournament, where knights in shining armor battled for honor on horseback, much to the excitement of the cheering crowds. Additionally, the festival featured a diverse range of activities, including archery, axe throwing, knife throwing, and live demonstrations of blacksmithing, glassblowing, leather working, and rope making. Guests could also test their skills in the Royal Archery Tournament or partake in the lavish 5-course Champion’s Feast.

Another highlight of the festival was the opportunity to have tea with the Queen herself. This unique experience allowed visitors to bask in the regal atmosphere of the festival while enjoying tea and good company. Furthermore, attendees could stroll through the bustling marketplace, where various vendors showcased their unique crafts and wares.

The Arkansas Renaissance Festival is set to continue its journey over the next few weeks, with themed weekends such as Pirate/Fairy Weekend, Viking/Celtic Invasion, High Fantasy Weekend, and Scottish Weekend. Each weekend promises to bring its own distinct charm and excitement to the festival grounds, ensuring a memorable experience for all who attend.
