ASP CID Assisting Searcy County Sheriff’s Office in Homicide Investigation
The Arkansas State Police (ASP) Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is assisting the Searcy County Sheriff’s Office in a homicide investigation following the discovery of a body in a home on Thursday. The ASP CID was notified by the Searcy County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) on September 5, 2024, after finding the deceased body of 43-year-old Amanda Stansbery in her home in St. Joe, Arkansas.
A 43-year-old woman, Amanda Stansbery, was found deceased in her home, leading to the arrest of Jeffrey Stansbery, her husband, in Branson, Missouri. Authorities received a call from Cox Medical Center in Branson informing them that Stansbery had arrived with a medical condition and made remarks about harming a woman. Subsequent investigations and a welfare check at Stansbery’s home uncovered a concealed body, leading to his arrest and charging with capital murder and corpse abuse.
Special Agents from the ASP CID are currently assisting in the ongoing investigation. The Searcy County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from ASP CID to aid in the active homicide inquiry. This cooperation reflects the collaborative approach between law enforcement agencies to ensure thorough and efficient investigations of criminal cases.
