Stone County Shooting Incident Leads to Former Deputy’s Arrest

On August 31, a shooting incident in the Luber area of Stone County left a 13-year-old with neck injuries. The suspect, identified as 60-year-old Steven Alan Gill, a former Stone County deputy, has been accused of the crime.

Gill was taken into custody shortly after the incident. Initially, he claimed to investigators that he had been firing at dogs near his private pond. However, a thorough investigation led to conflicting evidence, which led to his arrest.
