Outdoor Enthusiasts: Arkansas Outdoor Hall of Fame Honors Two at Banquet

Hall of Fame Inductees

The Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation recognized its newest inductees into the Arkansas Outdoor Hall of Fame at a banquet held on August 26. This year’s honorees include retired U.S. Army Colonel Shawn Daniel and Dr. Steve Lochmann, a professor of Fisheries Management and Ecology at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Both individuals have made significant contributions to the state’s outdoor recreation and conservation efforts.

Colonel Shawn Daniel

Retired Colonel Shawn Daniel, the executive director of Darby’s Warrior Support, has provided vital support to post-9/11 Special Operations combat veterans. Through Darby’s Warrior Support, Daniel has organized all-inclusive Arkansas hunting and fishing trips, creating a safe environment for these heroes to heal and connect with others.

Dr. Steve Lochmann

Dr. Lochmann has had a profound impact on the state’s fisheries and aquatic resources during his 30-year career at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. His teaching and research have produced many biologists who now work with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Fisheries Division. In 2016, the Arkansas Chapter of the American Fisheries Society recognized Lochmann’s outstanding leadership and strong commitment to Arkansas fisheries with the Joe Hogan Award.
