Stone County Man Faces Charges Following Shooting of Teenager

A sixty-year-old Stone County man, Steven Gill, is currently in the Stone County Detention Center after allegedly shooting a teenager on Saturday evening.

The shooting, which occurred near Mountain View in the Luber area, was reported around 5 p.m. When authorities arrived, they discovered that a 13-year-old had been hit in the back by a 22-caliber rifle bullet. Fortunately, the victim’s injuries were non-life-threatening, and emergency medical assistance was administered on the scene before the teen was airlifted to Little Rock for further care.

Gill, who was once a law enforcement officer, faces two counts of aggravated assault and is accused of shooting at two teenagers, ultimately injuring one of them. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, with investigations ongoing to determine whether the act was accidental or deliberate.

Deputies are configuring a statement and have begun interviewing witnesses along with Gill to gather additional details. The incident appears to be isolated and does not pose a current threat to the community.

As inquiries continue, authorities emphasize that further updates will be provided. In the meantime, the Sheriff’s Office is working to uncover all the facts surrounding this unfortunate incident.
