Arkansas Volleyball Registers Impressive Third Straight Sweep
In another dominating display, the Arkansas Razorback volleyball team secured its third consecutive sweep on September 7, 2024, defeating Louisiana Tech in three sets: 25-9, 25-13, and 25-15
A highlight of the match was the incredible 12-0 service run by Hannah Hogue in the opening set. Hogue’s run featured two aces, five kills, and three blocks, setting the tone for the rest of the match. The team’s largest margin of victory in a set this season was achieved in the first set, matching their performance at the 2023 NCAA Tournament against Stephen F. Austin.
Arkansas’s offense was led by sophomore outside hitter Romani Thurman, who notched 12 kills and a .455 hitting percentage, adding four blocks to their tally. Just behind Thurman were Jada Lawson and Olivia Ruy, each contributing eight kills and eight digs. Senior setter Hannah Hogue had a solid match with 34 assists and four service aces, a season-high performance.
The Razorbacks showcased their dominance on the defensive end as well. Middle blockers Zoi Evans and Sania Petties both contributed five kills, with Evans leading the team with eight blocks, including two solo blocks.
The impressive performance by the Razorbacks saw them limit Louisiana Tech to only 37 points throughout the match, the lowest amount since their sweep of Auburn on September 27, 2023.
