Summer Updates and Hiring Decisions at Lawrence Public Schools
The Lawrence school board held a meeting to discuss various summer activities and updates within the district. Assistant Superintendent Jason Lawrence provided key details to ensure the board’s understanding of the ongoing efforts.
New Interim Superintendent and Board Clerk
One of the key highlights of the meeting was the approval of Jeanice Swift’s contract as interim superintendent. She will serve from August 30 until June 30, 2025. Swift, a veteran educator with extensive experience in leadership roles, was chosen from a pool of three finalists.
Additionally, the board considered appointing Janice Dunn as the acting board clerk. This appointment would give her responsibilities as both clerk and assistant to the interim superintendent.
