Elkins Library Celebrates Mortgage-Free Status
After fourteen years of mortgage payments, the Elkins Public Library in Northwest Arkansas is set to celebrate a major milestone: becoming debt-free. The library has announced plans to mark this significant achievement with a special event.
The event, titled the Library Payoff Event, will take place on September 14 at 11 a.m. It is being organized by the library board, staff, and the Friends of the Elkins Public Library. The occasion marks a significant step forward for the library, which has expanded its footprint with a new building.
This major accomplishment will provide the library with greater flexibility to focus on its core mission: enriching the lives of the community through information, education, literacy, and leisure. The library’s services include loaning out thousands of print books, books on tape, magazines, videos, and music, as well as providing meeting room space and hosting various classes and events.
As part of its commitment to the community, the Elkins Public Library also participates in the Washington County Library System, which allows it to share resources from other participating libraries. This further enhances the access to e-resources for its patrons.
With the financial burden of the mortgage lifted, the library can now look forward to expanding its services and exploring new opportunities to enhance its offerings and engage with the community more effectively.
