Fayetteville deputy police chief arrested for DWI, placed on administrative leave

Fayetteville Deputy Chief Bradley Renfro Arrested for DWI

Fayetteville Deputy Chief Bradley Renfro was arrested on June 26, 2024, for driving while intoxicated (DWI). He has since been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.

According to reports, Renfro was stopped by a trooper at the intersection of Wedington Drive and Fieldstone Avenue due to a defective headlight on his vehicle. The incident has raised concerns about the actions of a high-ranking law enforcement officer.

Renfro’s arrest follows another notable instance of a prominent individual in Fayetteville facing DWI charges. Earlier in June 2024, Tyson Foods’ Chief Financial Officer (CFO) John R. Tyson was arrested for DWI and careless driving by the University of Arkansas police. Tyson Foods promptly suspended John R. Tyson from his duties, naming an interim CFO to take over.

This incident also brings to mind John R. Tyson’s previous legal issues. In November 2022, the Fayetteville police arrested him for public intoxication and criminal trespass after a woman discovered him asleep in her home near Dickson Street. He pleaded guilty to these charges, receiving fines and court costs.

The recent DWI arrests highlight the need for accountability among high-profile individuals, underscoring the importance of corporate governance and law enforcement’s adherence to standards, even when those in positions of power are involved.
